I do agree with you.
I obviously respect all the people who enjoy Obsidian because I did it too (for a whole year on a daily basis) but, as you’ve just said, it’s a little bit for “nerds” (like me, who studied to become a computer science engineer and have been coding for 2 decades).
I think, from an end-user perspective, it’s not an easy approach. As you said, editing text using symbols or creating queries to filter results shouldn’t be the way to interact with a piece of software in 2022. That’s my humble opinion.
The point is each of us are unique, and we have to bet on systems we enjoy, feel comfortable with, and take a huge part of our work away. If Obsidian does that, go for it. If not, look for any other option. Fortunately, there are hundreds (or thousands) of them out there.
