This is not about believing or not. Each one of us is unique, and something that works for me could be useless for you.
I think reminder apps are an excellent tool to force oneself to start creating and consolidating a habit because they're telling you the pace you have previously set up.
If, finally, you don't create it is because you don't believe in it. It's not a priority for you. At least, those are my conclusions whenever I failed to create a habit or consolidating it (something that has happened to me many times. We cannot forget we're not robots. We're human beings. A little bit more complicated...).
