I think here’s a very fascinating concept to navigate a little bit deeper in it.
From my point of view, being calm and mindful is totally a skill to be developed, trained, practiced, and improved (I do agree with you) but…
… it’s by creating a habit based on that skill where the really amazing life-changing “thing” appears.
We’re nothing else than the habits we practice with consistency over a long period.
There’s a moment where you’re not DOING something (for example, you’re writing), you ARE (identity) something (for example, you’re a writer).
When you move from the habit to the identity is when real growth appears. That’s “the moment”.
This is fantastically described by James Clear in his bestseller “Atomic Habits”.
Looking for identity through habits is how you engage your way to fulfillment, which always ends up in happiness, giving common sense to your life (I guess, one of your biggest goals).
